Eyebrow Transplantation Beverly Hills
Eyebrows are an integral feature to each individual face – and fuller, more natural appearing eyebrows are becoming the most attractive and sought-after look. Dr. Attenello specializes in eyebrow transplants and treats patients with thin or no eyebrows from a multitude of reasons such as such as trauma, medical treatments, or even genetics. The most common reason, though, are patients who persistently over-plucked their eyebrows in the past causing the hair to stop growing.
Although there are some options available for eyebrows – such as tattooing or microblading – oftentimes, these are just temporary with unnatural results.
Hair transplantation to the eyebrow region is an excellent way to restore a patient’s eyebrows permanently using your own natural hair. This can be done for the entire eyebrow or just to help fill out a portion of the eyebrow that appears thin. Dr. Attenello is one of a few female hair surgeons who specializes in this area of hair transplantation to provide the most superb and natural result for each patient.
During the procedure:
The most important part of the procedure is the design of the eyebrows. Dr. Attenello will patiently listen to your goals and together with you will come up with a design that works for your facial features as well as the ideal aesthetic goals. Eyebrow transplantation is an in-office procedure and you are kept comfortable with medications that help relax you and control any discomfort. Your own natural hair is removed from the back of your scalp (using either the Follicular Unit Transfer, F.U.T., method or the Follicular Unit Extraction, F.U.E., method) and these hairs are then carefully trimmed into fine individual hairs. The hairs are then delicately placed in the eyebrow region.
After surgery, mild redness and crusting can be expected where the hair grafts were placed, and this usually resolves after a few days to a week. Depending on your comfort level, many patients can return to work and social activity after 1-2 days. Though, we advise against certain activities such as heavy lifting and smoking. Because the hair grafts are scalp hair, these hair grafts will still grow as such and will need to be trimmed regularly.

Can I give my eyebrows more shape?
Definitely! During your consultation with Dr. Attenello, she will examine your current anatomy and then discuss in length with you the ideal shape, size, and design for the eyebrows. Each patient is uniquely different and Dr. Attenello customizes each procedure to fit these unique differences.
How are the hairs for the eyebrows obtained?
Dr. Attenello uses your finer hairs from the back of your head. This does not leave any gaps or bald areas and there will not be any noticeable difference after the hairs are taken. Dr. Attenello specializes in both the Follicular Unit Transfer (F.U.T. or ‘strip’) method as well as the Follicular Unit Extraction (F.U.E.) method. Because she does both, she can discuss the best option for each individual patient.
What can I expect during the procedure?
Eyebrow transplantation is done under local anesthesia, so there is no need for general anesthesia. You will be given some medication to help relax you and help with any discomfort, although, discomfort is usually minimal. The procedure usually takes 3-5 hours depending on the amount of eyebrow transplantation that is planned. Usually patients are relaxed – sleeping, listening to music, or watching television during this time.

What can I expect after the procedure?
You will see the results immediately after the procedure, although there may be mild redness or swelling. As with hair transplantation to the scalp, the natural hair cycle continues and these hairs may shed and start the regrowth cycle after 10-12 weeks.
What is the downtime of the Eyebrow Transplantation procedure?
The downtime for the Eyebrow transplantation procedure is usually short – about 1-3 days. There may be some very mild swelling and bruising, though this is uncommon. Tiny scabs may form around each follicle that lasts for a week. Patients usually feel comfortable to return to daily activities after a day or so with sunglasses if needed.
Why is it important to go to a specialist?
Eyebrow transplantation is an extremely specialized procedure to achieve superior results. The angle and density of the transplanted hairs are critical parameters; and attention to these details is paramount. Dr. Attenello understands this anatomy of the hair follicle and uses highly specialized and magnified lenses to recreate a natural, more full eyebrow. Lack of attention or expertise can result in sparse eyebrows with hair growing in erratic patterns.
