A facelift surgery, or rhytidectomy, is an ideal cosmetic plastic surgery to address age-related changes of the face, including sagging skin along the lower face and neck or deep lines and wrinkles.

By focusing on the muscular layer (or SMAS layer), a facelift performed by Dr. Attenello can improve signs of aging and restore a youthful, yet natural appearance. By focusing on the SMAS layer, minimal tension is placed on the skin layer which prevents the ‘wind swept’ appearance or any other unnatural stigmata of facelift surgery.

What Is the Recovery Process Like After a Facelift?

Dr. Attenello and her team are committed to providing the highest level of care, comfort, and safety for all patients. To help minimize bruising and swelling, a compression wrap is wrapped around the patient’s head and face after surgery. Mild discomfort with some bruising and swelling is expected. In the overwhelming majority of patients, drains are usually unnecessary. Bruising and swelling should subside some after two weeks and most patients can normally resume some social activity. Any smoking should be stopped before surgery as this can harm the healing process. Oftentimes, Dr. Attenello can arrange for a nurse to escort the patient either to a hotel or to his or her home if it is close by.
